Storm over Nanos
The storm system that developed over the Po Valley in the second week of July and was persistently carried into Slovenia by the westerly wind largely bypassed the southern/coastal part of Slovenia. The more severe storms and damage were on the north-eastern side of the Karst Rim—in Upper Carniola, Lower Carniola, Styria and Prekmurje.
On the final day of the major storms, however, the system also reached the coastal region, putting on a real lightning show but fortunately causing no serious consequences.
