Veliki Kožljek (1,240 m) – Javorniki
Veliki Kožljek offers one of the finest, if not the finest, viewpoints in the Javorniki. It overlooks not only the entire Postojna and Pivka basins, Nanos, Snežnik and the sea, as Mali Javornik does, but also the whole Lož Valley.
It lies approximately one kilometre as the crow flies south-east of Veliki Javornik and is only 30 metres lower.
The steep, grassy summit is marked by an 1823 boundary stone inscribed "NXVII Koschleck 1823" which, as part of the Rapallo border, divided the Kingdom of Italy from the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes.
The Javorniki forests are especially colourful in spring, from the still-white Snežnik to every shade of brown, light green and dark green in the canopy, turning blue and purple in the distant haze.
